Creation of planning specifications for efficient and structured planning of adaptable service locations

As part of the implementation of the operations control strategy for digital rail in Germany (DSD), DB InfraGO is implementing digital control and safety technology (DLST). This includes the creation of the latest technologies such as digital signal boxes (DSTW), ETCS (European Train Control System) and an iLBS (integrated control and operating system). This new innovative DLST will be operated by DSTW BSO (operating site) in future. A highly available redundant integrated control and operating system (iLBS) will be installed in the BSO.

Quattron engineering (NEXTRAIL GmbH) was commissioned to draw up the BSO planning specifications (PV) as a guideline (Ril) and to design and support the regulatory process. quattron engineering has drawn up a set of rules for this innovative type of DSD operating building for the new operating control strategy (BSS). The Ril provides projects and planners with planning specifications for the realisation of more than 100 BSOs. In order to meet the high availability requirements for BSOs and all trades (including structural engineering, energy supply, lightning protection, air conditioning and ventilation technology, etc.), extensive specific planning specifications had to be described for this critical infrastructure. To ensure optimum working conditions for the dispatchers, the workplace guidelines for the operating level and control rooms had to be taken into account in the planning specifications. The challenge was to incorporate technology, operational aspects, protection requirements for critical infrastructures and workplace requirements into the PV as a whole.

Key areas of service

  • Creation of an overall set of rules for the planning of BSOs
  • Process support and monitoring of the rules and regulations process
  • Structuring of the rules and regulations
  • Coordination with stakeholders, specialist authors
  • Research on the topic of critical infrastructure (Kritis)
  • Initiating the adaptation of other regulations
