Project management for grid expansion in accordance with the German Grid Expansion Acceleration Act (NABEG)

Acceleration of the transmission grid expansion

The aim of a major grid expansion project in Germany is to transport wind power from the North Sea coast to southern Germany in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg via two underground direct current lines. The construction of this infrastructure project involves extensive planning and approval procedures.

Throughout this far-reaching project, quattron is supporting the client with the following services, including:

  • General consulting, project management and engineering services
  • Creation of route concepts and technical solutions
  • Superordinate technical review of planning approval documents
  • Support during the planning approval procedure in accordance with NABEG in § 8, § 12, § 19 & § 21

The NABEG regulates the planning and approval procedure for the accelerated expansion of transnational and cross-border, high-voltage transmission lines within the meaning of the Energy Industry Act.

Since the start of 2020, the Federal Network Agency has determined the 1000-meter-wide corridor for underground cables in sections in accordance with § 12 NABEG. The project developers then submit their applications and proposals for the route of the line within the 1000-meter-wide corridor in sections in accordance with § 19 NABEG.

quattron is proud to be able to make a significant contribution to the energy transition.
